A true love is a sacrificial love + FREE 30 Days of Digital Decluttering Guide
Published 11 months ago • 3 min read
Hey friends!
We just celebrated Valentine's Day - and by celebrating, I mean that I told my kids and husband, "Happy Valentine's Day!" and called it a day. We did have a nice dinner at our Wednesday Night Bible Study, complete with lots of yummy treats. I even made one of Sally Clarkson's cakes from her Tea Time Discipleship book (which I highly recommend!).
Valentine's Day has lost much of its meaning over the years, slowly becoming a day for chocolates and roses and not much else. The original St. Valentine was potentially several people who lived in the late 200s A.D. and were executed by Emperor Claudius of Rome.
It makes me think about what true love means. To have a love that is passionate, yet long-lasting, means that you must sacrifice. You give up what is seemingly precious to you in order to show your love for the other person.
And, the greatest example we have of what true love is can be found in Jesus.
Another holiday happened this past week as well - interestingly on the same day. Ash Wednesday was this past Wednesday, February 14, which begins the Lenten season.
I haven't fasted for Lent in the past, but I am trying to incorporate more rhythms of fasting and celebration in my life. I would love to hear if you honor Lent. You can subscribe to this email and let me know!
I am currently trying to get a handle on my digital life. I took a break from social media for a while and recently got back on. Now, I am working to find a balance.

Hey friends! I hope everyone had a lovely Easter! We are settling into the Spring Routines, including starting seedlings, planning out gardens, and picking out homeschool curriculum for next year. As we move into the Spring months, I start to get Spring fever. I am so ready for summer, including the pool, the beach, and long summer days! As the season changes, I like to take a moment to reassess my goals. I post regularly on Instagram about some of these goals, as well as ideas and...
Hey friends, and hello Spring! The past few weeks have been a whirlwind. A few weeks ago, I went to a lovely women's retreat with some ladies from my church. There's something so special about leaving the distractions and busyness of life and spending some time in God's word with like-minded believers. Then, the following weekend, I went to the Great Homeschool Convention. It was a great weekend! Do you homeschool? I'd love it if you responded and let me know! It got my wheels turning for...
Hey friends! Rising costs mean rising stress, doesn't it? I was just talking with some friends about the costs of take-out meals. What used to be a $5-6 meal has bloomed into $10-12! Take that combined with growing families, and sometimes, it can feel like you are at the end of your rope. You can't seem to make the ends meet. As Christians, we have a different view of money. Money is not just something that strive to accumulate more of to buy nice things for ourselves. We don't use money to...
